Perhaps the most striking (and newsworthy) moment of the first day at Cannes came when Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky made a surprise virtual appearance calling on the world’s creatives to join the fight for the country’s freedom in its war with Russia. His talk came during a “Creativity Under Bombs” presentation from Ukrainian creatives at the Grand Auditorium Louis Lumière.
Zelenskyy, of course, appeared via livestream on a towering screen from which he told attendees: “We need people like you. You are the most brave people in the world, always on the cutting edge, whether it’s the refugee flag, the Fearless Girl, the ice bucket challenge or the ‘Rivers of Life.’ Every time you find the words and images to reach the depths of the human soul. You make people talk about issues everyone would otherwise overlook.”
Comfortably the most powerful line he used however was that the “power of creativity is greater than a nuclear state stuck in the past.” His words echo a fear that the longer the Russian invasion continues, the more likely the global media’s attention will shift to other issues. ..."

The Independent has started a GoFundMe asking for support, but they’ve also promoted a separate GoFundMe — “Keep Ukraine’s media going” — for journalists around the country who have received less international attention. “[Ukraine’s reporters] have shown extraordinary courage, but the reality on the ground is that most operations cannot continue from Ukraine alone,” one organizer wrote. “This fundraiser is aimed at helping media relocate, set up back offices and continue their operations from neighboring countries.”

We have a large procurement team of volunteers that tracks down and purchases supplies and a logistics team that then gets them to Ukraine.” Razom — which means “together” in Ukrainian — posted a list of the lifesaving supplies it has already purchased and is asking for more support here.

Save the Children, founded more than a century ago, is blunt about the grueling nature of its work: “We work in the hardest-to-reach places, where it’s toughest to be a child,” its homepage says. Voices of Children, a charitable foundation based in Ukraine, has been serving the psychological needs of children affected by the war in the country’s east since 2015, according to its website. The group’s psychologists specialize in art therapy and provide general psychosocial support with group classes or individual sessions. AND - HIS COURAGE - AND EXAMPLE - TO CONFRONT THE RUSSIANS - HAS CAPTURED THE WORLD'S ADMIRATION.

Moreover, the disappearance of UKRAINE - as an “independent state” - would have a profound effect upon those countries - in Europe & the Middle EAST - whose peoples are struggling against great difficulties - to maintain their freedoms and their independence ...
It would be an unspeakable tragedy if these countries, which have struggled so long against overwhelming odds, should lose that victory for which they HAVE sacrificed so much.
The collapse of free institutions - and loss of independence - would be disastrous - not only for them - but for the world.
Discouragement - and possibly failure - would quickly be the lot of neighboring peoples - striving to maintain their freedom and independence.
Should we fail to aid UKRAINE in this fateful hour, the effect will be far reaching to the West - as well as to the East.
We must take immediate and resolute action.
I therefore ask the Congress to provide authority for assistance to UKRAINE - in multiple modes - including ALL US Military modes – AS NEEDED.
I ask the Congress to authorize the detail of American civilian and military personnel - to UKRAINE & OTHERS, at the request of those countries, to assist AS NEEDED.
I recommend that authority also be provided for the instruction and training of selected UKRAINE & OTHER COUNTRIES personnel – IN THE DEPLOYMENT & USE OF OUR WEAPONS SYSTEMS.
I ask that the Congress provide authority which will permit the speediest and most effective use, in terms of needed commodities, supplies, and equipment, of such funds as may be authorized.
Finally - I am aware of reports [that] not all Russian people support the "recent invasion" of a neighboring & peaceful country; AND, desertions by "conscripted" Russian troops
- who (in fact) - want no part in Putin's madness – HAVE TAKEN PLACE;
Thus, with - the Practical Notice & coordination - of the US Congress - I hope to announce soon – EARTH coordinate locations of areas [that] unarmed Russians can go to - for safety - from the intense fighting - that may ENSUE.

As I point out (in my recent message to UKRAINE’s President Zelensky, JOE BIDEN, Antony Blinken- DATED 2-17-2022) ...Similar to Joe Biden - I grew up in an "inner-city" neighborhood - of Columbus, Ohio. I encountered "bullies" - during my youth. Their presence - on the school yard - made some activities a challenge: SWINGING, SLIDING, RUNNING, PLAYING... I was fortunate to have brothers & sisters AND "friends". Russia's "president" PUTIN - is a "bully". Today - I am an average sized female - who performs Yoga poses (for Seniors); but, at my birth - I was born handicapped "Pigeon Breasted" [ Pectus carinatum ]. With help - I overcame the birth handicap (in my youth).
I relate this, as I - obviously - have some personal knowledge - of fearing to tread - where "bullies" were loose - as a child. AND, I also went through a period - of being "aggressive" - to claim [that] which - I thought - belonged - to me. The latter was a young man - who - apparently - thought it proper - to date multiple women - at the same time. He was born and raised - in Brown County Wisconsin. The "other" girl's family had a dairy farm. I only had a Federal Work Study AWARD - and, a head capable of "programming computers". ...
Thankfully, MY AGGRESSION PASSED. AND, with my "UWGB" Professor's help & the National Science Foundation (NSF), I came to realize my worth - AND, I met Hans. Hans was employed - at the NCR Corporation - which - hired me - at my graduation from college. My "role" was - to teach people - from all over the world - HOW TO program NCR computers - and, Retail Terminal Systems. Mostly, I designed and developed the Product END User Manuals - and, presented them - at NCRs "multi-lingual campus - in Dayton, Ohio. After a few years, I worked on USA military related products - for General Electric and Battelle Research...
AS A DEMOCRAT, I urge you to design a "proposal" - from DEMOCRATS! - that seeks to utilize the weapons systems - that the USA has developed - TO STOP PUTIN - IN RUSSIA!
As an "analytical" person - AND a DEMOCRAT! - I would prefer to "fight" the "opening battles" - of World WAR 3 - on Russian territory; Rather than in Nashville, Columbus, Dayton, Pittsburgh ... With the recent massing of Russian forces on the Ukrainian border, we urge your administration to take immediate and swift action to provide support to Ukraine in the form of intelligence and weapons. We also urge your administration to deploy a U.S. military presence in the Black Sea to deter a Russian invasion. According to open-source reporting, Russia is once again massing a sizeable military force of ground troops, armored vehicles, tanks, and artillery on Ukraine’s doorstep. Russia’s behavior is becoming more aggressive, and it has intensified rhetoric critical of Ukraine on topics ranging from Ukraine’s military modernization and military partnerships to Ukraine’s admission into NATO. Although Russia’s intentions are uncertain, the presence of Russia’s elite 1st Guard Tanks Army lends credibility to concerns that Russia is planning additional incursions into Ukraine territory. Your administration cannot ignore Russia’s continued threat to international law and Ukraine’s territorial sovereignty. In September, your administration committed $60 million in military aid to Ukraine due to a “major increase in Russian military activity along its border.” Since then, Russia’s apparent military activity has continued to increase in intensity. Therefore, it is imperative that the U.S. fulfill its commitment to a key partner by increasing lethal aid to Ukraine in order to deter and repel a renewed Russian incursion. Additionally, we urge you to immediately consider an appropriate U.S. military presence and posture in the region and to initiate appropriate intelligence sharing activities between the U.S. and Ukraine to prevent the situation from escalating further.

International convention since the end of the Cold War has come to distinguish two distinct circumstances where such privileges are sought by such a successor state, in only the first of which may such successor states assume the name or privileged international position of their predecessor. The first set of circumstances arose at the dissolution of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) in 1991. One of the constituent republics of the USSR, the Russian Federation has declared itself to be "the continuator state of the USSR" on the grounds that it contained 51% of the population of the USSR and 77% of its territory. Consequently, Russia agreed that it would acquire the USSR's seat as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.[18] This was also accepted by the rest of the former states of the USSR; in a letter dated 24 December 1991, the Russian President Boris Yeltsin informed the Secretary-General that the membership of the USSR in the Security Council and all other United Nations organs was being continued by the Russian Federation with the support of the nine member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.[19] All Soviet embassies became Russian embassies.
A special case for the Baltic states had existed. An important tenet of the modern states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania is that their incorporation into the Soviet Union from 1940 to 1991 constituted an illegal occupation. In 1991 when each Baltic state regained their independence they claimed continuity directly from their pre-1940 status. Many other states share this view, and as such, these states were not considered either predecessor or successor states of the Soviet Union. As a consequence, the Baltic states were able to simply re-establish diplomatic relations with countries, re-affirm pre-1940 treaties still in force, and resume membership to international organizations.[20]
Yugoslavia
After four of the six constituent republics of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia seceded in 1991 and 1992, the rump state, renamed the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, stated it was the continuation of the state of Yugoslavia—against the objections of the newly independent republics. Representatives from Belgrade continued to hold the original Yugoslavian UN seat—however, the United States refused to recognize it. The remaining territory of the federation was less than half of the population and territory of the former federation. In 1992 the Security Council on September 19 (Resolution 777) and the General Assembly on September 22, decided to refuse to allow the new federation to sit in the General Assembly under the name of "Yugoslavia" on the theory that the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia had dissolved. The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (later renamed Serbia and Montenegro) was admitted as a new member to the United Nations in 2000; in 2006, Montenegro declared independence and Serbia continued to hold the federation's seat. Additionally, Kosovo declared independence in 2008.
The Agreement on Succession Issues
The first negotiations on succession issues of the former Socialist Yugoslavia had begun in 1992 within the framework of the Working Group on Succession Issues of the Peace Conference on Yugoslavia.[21] The agreement was initially prevented by the insistence of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia that it is exclusive legal and political continuator of the Socialist Yugoslavia as well as the owner of all state property owned by the earlier socialist federal government, and was willing to renounce a part of it only as an act of goodwill.[21] Federal Republic of Yugoslavia interpreted breakup of Yugoslavia as a process of serial secessions and not as a complete dismemberment of the earlier state, interpretation rejected by other former Yugoslav republics.[21] Badinter Arbitration Committee recommended a division of assets and liabilities based on principle of equity and even referred to the 1983 Vienna Convention on Succession of States in Respect of State Property, Archives and Debt (convention not in force which at the time was signed by only six states, including SRF Yugoslavia).[21] This proposal was unacceptable to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia which therefore motivated the International Monetary Fund to develop alternative key model which included economic power of republics and their contribution to the federal budget which was accepted by all.[21] The key determined participation of Federal Republic of Yugoslavia with 36.52%, Croatia with 28.49%, Slovenia 16.39%, Bosnia and Herzegovina with 13.20% and Macedonia with 5.20%.[21] Agreement was also reached on gold and other reserves at the Bank for International Settlements but the final conclusion was postponed by the beginning of the Kosovo War.[21]
After the end of the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia followed next year by the overthrow of Slobodan Milošević successor states concluded their agreement. In 2001, with the support of the international community, five countries (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia – today North Macedonia and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia – today Serbia) signed the Agreement on Succession Issues which conclusively confirmed that five sovereign equal successor states were formed upon the dissolution of the former SFR Yugoslavia.[22] It entered into force on 2 June 2004 when the last successor state ratified it.[22] The agreement was signed as an umbrella agreement which included annexes on diplomatic and consular properties, financial assets and liabilities, archives, pensions, other rights, interests and liabilities as well as private properties and acquired rights.[21] At the subsequent dissolution of the state union of Serbia and Montenegro (one of the five successor states) two countries agreed on Serbian sole succession of rights and obligations of their federation. ... "

Once "calling out" - another girl - raised on a Dairy Farm- that I saw with "my man". Also raised on a "dairy farm" - he turned - and threatened to call - the Green Bay Police - on me! She cried - when we encountered each other - some days later - on an elevator - at the City Hall. As you suggest: I WAS ASHAMED - of my previous actions.
In fact, my actions - which frighteded this girl (of me) coincided with the creation - of the "Women In Science" - Green Bay Chapter. I doubt [that] THEY would have applauded me - if they were aware of the "Terror" [that] I was ALSO capable of. Ukraine wants peace. Europe wants peace. The world says it doesn't want to fight, and Russia says it doesn't want to attack. Someone is lying.
This is not an axiom, but it is no longer a hypothesis.
Two days ago I was in Donbas, on the "delimitation line" +[above].
Legally - between Ukraine and the temporarily occupied territories ( TOT ) . In fact, the delimitation line between peace and war.
Where on the one side there is a kindergarten, and on the other side there is a projectile that hit it. (IMAGE)
On the one side there is a school, on the other side there is a projectile hitting the school yard.
And next to it there are 30 children who go… no, not to NATO, but to school.
Someone has physics classes. Knowing its basic laws, even children understand how absurd the statements that "... the shelling is carried out by Ukraine..." sound.
Someone has math classes. Children can calculate the difference between - the number of shelling occasions in these three days - and the occasions of mentioning Ukraine in this year's "Munich Security Report" without a calculator. And someone has history classes. And when a bomb crater appears in the school yard, children have a question:

The "rules" that the world agreed on decades ago no longer work. They do not keep up with new threats. They are not effective for overcoming them.

As a result, we have crimes of some and indifference of others. Indifference that makes you an accomplice.
It is symbolic that I am talking about this right here.
It was here - 15 years ago - that Russia announced its intention to challenge global security. [ Russia 2006 ]
Result? At least - the annexation of Crimea and aggression against my state.
The UN, which is supposed to defend peace and world security, cannot defend itself. When its Charter is violated.
When one of the members of the UN Security Council [Russia] annexes the territory of one of the founding members of the UN.
Three years ago, it was here that Angela Merkel said: “Who will pick up the wreckage of the world order? Only all of us, together."
The audience gave a standing ovation. But, unfortunately, the collective applause did not grow into collective action.
And now, when the world is talking about the threat of a great war, the question arises: is there anything left to pick up?
The security architecture in Europe and the world is almost destroyed. It's too late to think about repairs, it's time to build a new system. Mankind has done this twice, paying too high a price - two world wars. We have a chance to break this trend - until it becomes a consistent pattern.
And start building a new system before millions of victims. Having the old lessons of the First and Second World Wars, not our own experience of the possible third, God forbid.
I talked about it here. And on the rostrum of the UN. That in the XXI century there are no more foreign wars. That the annexation of Crimea and the war in Donbas affects the whole world. And this is not a war in Ukraine, but a war in Europe. I said this at summits and forums. In 2019, 2020, 2021. Will the world be able to hear me in 2022?
This is no longer a hypothesis, but not an axiom yet. Why? Evidence is needed.

We will defend our land with or without the support of partners.
Whether they give us hundreds of modern weapons or five thousand helmets.
We appreciate any help, but everyone should understand that these are not "charitable contributions" that Ukraine should ask for or remind of.
These are not "noble gestures" for which Ukraine should bow low. This is your contribution to the security of Europe and the world.
Where Ukraine has been a reliable shield for eight years. And for eight years it has been rebuffing one of the world's biggest armies.

And, Grad rockets hit Mariupol, not European cities. And after almost six months of fighting, the airport in Donetsk was destroyed, not in Frankfurt.
And, it's always hot in the Avdiivka industrial zone - it was hot there in the last days, not in Montmartre.
And, no European country knows what military burials every day in all regions are. And, no European leader knows what regular meetings with the families of the deceased are.
Be that as it may, we will defend our beautiful land no matter if we have 50,000, 150 or one million soldiers of any army on the border.
To really help Ukraine, it is not necessary to say how many servicemen and military equipment are on the border. Say what numbers we have.
To really help Ukraine, it is not necessary to constantly talk only about the dates of the probable invasion.
We will defend our land on February 16, March 1 and December 31. We need other dates much more. And everyone understands perfectly well which ones.
Eight years ago, Ukrainians made their choice, and many gave their lives for that choice.
Eight years later, should Ukraine constantly call for recognition of the European perspective?
Since 2014, Russia has been "convincing" +[ TRYING TO PERSUADE] that we have chosen the wrong path, that no one is waiting for us in Europe.
Shouldn't Europe constantly say and prove by action that this is not true?
Shouldn't the EU say today that its citizens are positive about Ukraine's accession to the Union? Why do we avoid this question?
Doesn't Ukraine deserve direct and honest answers?
This also applies to NATO. We are told: the door is open. But so far authorized access only. If not all members of the Alliance want to see us or all members of the Alliance do not want to see us, be honest.
Open doors are good, but we need open answers, not open questions for years. +[ SUSAN - also -ASKS FOR CLARIFICATION... ]
Isn't the right to the truth one of our enhanced opportunities? The best time for it is the next summit in Madrid.
Russia says Ukraine seeks to join the Alliance to return Crimea by force. It is gratifying that the words "return Crimea" appear in their rhetoric.
But they [ Russia ] inattentively read Article 5 of the NATO Charter: collective action is for protection, not offensive.
Crimea and the occupied regions of Donbas will certainly return to Ukraine, but only peacefully.
Their "foundation" is the unquestionable recognition of the territorial integrity and independence of our state.
We seek a diplomatic settlement of the armed conflict. Note: solely on the basis of international law.
So what is really going on in the peace process? Two years ago, we agreed with the Presidents of France, the Russian Federation, the Chancellor of Germany on a full-scale ceasefire.
And Ukraine - is scrupulously adhering to these agreements. We are as restrained - as possible - against the background of constant provocations.
We are constantly making proposals - in the framework of the Normandy Four - and the Trilateral Contact Group. And what do we see? Shells and bullets from the other side. Our soldiers and civilians are being killed and wounded, and civilian infrastructure is being destroyed.
The last days have become especially illustrative. Hundreds of massive shelling occasions with weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements.
It is also important to stop restricting the admission of OSCE observers to Ukraine's "Temporary Occupied Territories" TOT. They are threatened. They are intimidated. All humanitarian issues are blocked.
Two years ago, I signed a law on the unconditional admission of representatives of humanitarian organizations to detainees. But they are simply not admitted to the temporarily occupied territories (TOT). After two exchanges of captives, the process was blocked, although Ukraine provided agreed lists.
Inhuman torture at the infamous Isolation Prison in Donetsk has become a symbol of human rights abuses.
The two new checkpoints - we opened in November 2020 in the Luhansk region - still do not function - and here we see outright obstruction under contrived pretexts.
Ukraine is doing everything possible to reach progress in discussions and political issues. In the "Trilateral Contact Group" TCG, in the Minsk process, we’ve put forward proposals - draft laws, but everything is blocked - no one talks about them.
Ukraine demands to unblock the negotiation process immediately. But this does not mean that the search for peace is limited to it alone.
We are ready to look for the key to the end of the war in all possible formats and platforms: Paris, Berlin, Minsk. Istanbul, Geneva, Brussels, New York, Beijing
- I don't care where in the world to negotiate peace in Ukraine.
It does not matter if four countries, seven or a hundred participate, the main thing is that Ukraine and Russia are among them.
What is really important is the understanding that peace is needed not only by us, the world needs peace in Ukraine. Peace and restoration of territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders. This is the only way.
And, I hope no one thinks of Ukraine as a convenient and eternal buffer zone between the West and Russia. This will never happen. Nobody will allow that.
Ukraine has received security guarantees for abandoning the world's third nuclear capability. We don't have that weapon. We also have no security. We also do not have part of the territory of our state that is larger in area than Switzerland, the Netherlands or Belgium. And most importantly - we don’t have millions of our citizens. We don’t have all this.
Therefore, we have something. The right to demand a shift from a policy of appeasement to ensuring security and peace guarantees.
Since 2014, Ukraine has tried three times to convene consultations with the guarantor states of the "Budapest Memorandum". Three times without success. Today Ukraine will do it for the fourth time. I, as President, will do this for the first time. But both Ukraine and I are doing this for the last time. I am initiating consultations in the framework of the Budapest Memorandum. The Minister of Foreign Affairs was commissioned to convene them. If they do not happen again or their results do not guarantee security for our country, Ukraine will have every right to believe that the Budapest Memorandum is not working and all the package decisions of 1994 are in doubt.
I also propose to convene a summit of permanent members of the UN Security Council in the coming weeks with the participation of Ukraine, Germany and Turkey in order to address security challenges in Europe. And elaborate new, effective security guarantees for Ukraine. Guarantees today, as long as we are not a member of the Alliance and in fact are in the gray zone - in a security vacuum.

Continue to effectively support Ukraine and its defense capabilities.

Support the transformation in our country.
Establish a Stability and Reconstruction Fund for Ukraine, a land-lease program, the supply of the latest weapons, machinery and equipment for our army - an army that protects the whole of Europe.
Develop an effective package of preventive sanctions to deter aggression.
Guarantee Ukraine's energy security, ensure its integration into the EU energy market when Nord Stream 2 is used as a weapon.
All these questions need answers.
So far we have silence instead of them. And as long as there is silence, there will be no silence in the east of our state. That is - in Europe. That is - in the whole world.

I don't know what he thought at the last moment of his life. He definitely didn't know what agenda someone needs to meet to end the war.
But, he knows exactly the answer to the question I asked at the beginning. He knows exactly who of us is lying.
May his memory live forever. May the memory of all those who died today and during the war in the east of our state live forever.

Consider, The Russians have their military "stuff" - lined up - like poker chips (orcheckers) - along three sides of Ukraine. (x, y, z ).
The Russian “aim" apparently - (in placing these military assets there) - is/was - to
"intimidate" others - with a show of force. Which, such action is a kind of
"Terrorism" - and, a violation of International Law. As cited & defined here:
Thus, it makes perfect sense - to avail ourselves of this "Ukrainian -Pearl Harbor" opportunity;
And, degrade our mortal enemy's military assets NOW! - with the
PRECISION Guided Munitions (PGM) systems [that] the American people have

These systems are designed to be operated "remotely"; Thus, any required human "assets" could be in Poland,

So, I suggest - we "flip the table" – and give the Russians a “real show"!

PGMs typically use the global positioning system (GPS), laser guidance, or "inertial navigation systems" to improve a weapon’s accuracy to reportedly less than 3 meters (approximately 10 feet). The recent US National Defense Strategy [2018] articulates a renewed focus on great power competition to combat anti-access/area denial (A2/AD) systems. [ 2020 ]
The wide proliferation of "anti-access/area denial" A2/AD is likely to increase the operational utility of "precision guided munitions" [PGMs].
In particular, peer competitors like China and Russia have developed sophisticated air defenses and "anti-ship missiles" that increase the risk to U.S. forces entering and operating in these regions.
As a result, DOD has argued [that] "... [it] requires longer-range precision munitions to meet these new threats. ..."

The U.S. military has become reliant on PGMs to execute military operations ( Figure 1 ), being used in ground, air, and naval operations.
Over the past five years, DOD in FY2018, procured 68,800 munitions for $4.6 billion; in FY2019, procured 60,600 munitions $4.3 billion; in FY2020, procured 55,200 munitions $5.3 billion; in FY2021, appropriated $3.8 billion for 39,500 munitions; and in FY2022, requested $3.1 billion 16,700 munitions.
Air-Launched Precision Munitions "Paveway Laser Guided Bomb" ( RAYtheon ) . The "Paveway" is a family of "guidance kits" that attach to unguided bombs.
The assembly includes a "seeker" on the nose of the bomb that looks for a laser to mark a target and a "tail kit" to steer the bomb. The Paveway series was originally developed during the Vietnam War to enable tactical aircraft—like the F-4 Phantom—to deliver precise munitions.
Paveway has received many upgrades over the decades, most recently the Paveway III (developed in the 1990s), which improves low-altitude guidance. Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM). JDAM is a tail kit that modifies unguided bombs—the 5,000 pound Mk-82, 1,000 pound Mk-83, and 2,000 pound Mk-84 bombs—with GPS guidance (see Figure 2 ).
When a JDAM kit is attached, the weapon is designated a guided bomb unit ( GBU -31/32/38 depending on the weight of the bomb). JDAM has a reported range of 13 nautical miles. The first operational use of a JDAM was during Operation Allied Freedom in Kosovo by a B-2 Spirit bomber. JDAMs are used by all fixed-wing strike aircraft.
The first "Hellfire" was introduced into service in 1982 on the Army’s AH-64 Apache, using laser guidance to target tanks, bunkers, and structures.
"Hellfire missiles" have a maximum effective range of 4.3 nautical miles. During the late 1990s and early 2000s, Hellfire missiles were introduced on the MQ-1 Predator,
and later the MQ-9 Reaper, enabling unmanned aerial vehicles to provide a strike capability.
Hellfire missiles have become a preferred munition for operations in the Middle East, particularly with increased utilization of unmanned aircraft like MQ-1s and MQ-9s.
Joint Air-to-Ground Missile (JAGM). The Joint Airto-Ground Missile is designed to replace the Hellfire, TOW, and Maverick missiles. JAGM uses a new warhead/seeker paired with an existing AGM-114R rocket motor to provide improved target acquisition and discrimination.
JAGM underwent testing starting in 2010, declaring initial operating capability in 2019 - having successfully been integrated on the AH-64E Apache and AH-1Z Super Cobra attack helicopters. < Joint Air-to-Surface Strike Munition (JASSM). The JASSM is a 14-foot-long, 2,250-pound missile that can be carried internally on B-1B Lancer and B-52 Defense Primer: U.S. Precision-Guided Munitions https://crsreports.congress.gov Stratofortress aircraft, and externally on a number of tactical fighters, including the F-16 Falcon, F-15E Strike Eagle, F/A-18 Hornet (see Figure 3), F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, and F-35 Lightning II. In 2004, the Air Force developed an extended range version of the JASSM. The JASSM-ER uses the same body as the previous version, adding an improved infrared seeker, a two-way datalink, and enhanced anti-jam GPS receiver.

LRASM was conceived by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, using a JASSM missile body to replace the AGM-88 Harpoon. Guided Multiple Rocket Launch System (GMLRS). GMLRS is a GPS-guided, 227-millimeter rocket that was developed in 1999 and entered service in 2003. It is capable of being launched from the M270 multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) and the M142 HIMARS. Precision Strike Missile (PrSM). The PrSM is a new development program intended to replace ATACMS. PrSM can launch from the M270 and HIMARS. The Army states that PrSM is designed to be able to launch two missiles in a launcher pod compared to ATACMS’s single missile, have a range in excess of 400 kilometers, and have an anti-jam GPS antenna. The Army plans to have the PrSM enter operational service in FY2023. Naval Precision Munitions Tomahawk Cruise Missile. The Tomahawk was developed during the early- to mid-1970s. It is launched from submarines and from surface combatants. Tomahawk has a reported range of 870 NM at speeds of Mach 0.85, and uses GPS and inertial navigation system. The Tomahawk Block IV is the latest variant. Standard Missile-6 (SM-6). The Standard Missile-6 was originally designed as an anti-aircraft missile, derived from the Navy’s SM-2 Block IV in 2004. Since its development, the SM-6 has been integrated into the Navy’s Naval Integrated Fires-Counter Air (NIF-CA) program to strike enemy surface ships. The missile was designed to receive targeting information from AEGIS radars and the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye in flight.
Naval Strike Missile (NSM). The NSM (see Figure 5) is an anti-ship low observable cruise missile capable of flying close the surface of the ocean to avoid radar detection. The NSM is designed to fly multiple flight profiles—different altitudes and speeds—with effective ranges of between 100 and 300 nautical miles at a cruise speed of up to 0.9 Mach.
