When I - for many years - worked in the USA "high-tech" industry, I learned to read the Real Engineer's documents [ I was not an "engineer" ] with a very skeptical attitude. USA Engineers were (then) very good at "doing" things (coding software, designing parts, etc. - but, USA Engineers seemed to dislike documenting what they had done - AND, why they had done it - at all. So, "Engineering Technical Writers" which, I was one of those - Our job was to "interview" and "research" the Whys, Wherefores, - all of the details - and, from this "Create" an End User's Manual. "SHREDDING" A DOCUMENT" - entails reading it very carefully - and capturing your inquiries...
